We bought a 8300 John Deere drill to plant soybeans and wheat with.

How exercise y'all set the drill up for a 160,000 population for Beans? There are two levers in the front with 30/threescore....etc stamped on them. Merely without the manual, I don't know how to fix it up properly.

Any assist would be appreciated!

Tim

Isn't there a nautical chart showing pounds under the lid? Ltfire

As the other answer stated, there should exist a chart inside the hat to get you lot close.  The chart only gives y'all a place to start because information technology estimates the setting for the number of pounds of seed you lot're applying.  Likewise, where the levers are in that location should exist a pointer and some numbers to requite yous a reference for where it's set.  Years ago when I had an 8300, I plant that you improve measure out the flutes on each side (mine had a lever for each half of the drill) with an authentic ruler (fine graduations) to get them ready even remotely shut.  I took to measuring out a altitude in the field and collecting seed from one row for a gear up distance multiple times until I got information technology set right.  It stinks to found 250k or 100k when y'all desire 160k and it's easy to do with the manner these work.  Seed size tin can alter the population a lot on an 8300.

Hope this helps,

Mike

There should be gates on each seed cup for the different sized seeds. Wheat should be most closed and third notch for beans I would think but I don't heighten beans just have peas. This keeps from grinding the seed up through the flutes. moonshine

You may also notice a slow down kit for the seed cops helpful. JD just slapped the seed cups and lever decals on and out the door it goes. No quality control there. Thank yous JD for the prissy green pigment and flimsy lids. billybob

I am gonna go look at information technology over again tonight to run across if I can figure it out. Information technology every bit been merely used equally a wheat drill the last 15 years. And then I demand to set it support for beans.

Thanks again!

Yes they did. Information technology varies from seed loving cup to seed cup and department to section.
